The story goes that Blue Mountain Beach was named for the native blue lupine wildflowers that once covered its dunes. Now elegant condominiums and beach homes dot the landscape, with the dunes bordering the protected beaches still sporting the purplish blue flowers.
Blue Mountain Beach has a town center that has sprung up near the intersection of County Road 83 and County Road 30A. You’ll find a health food store, bike shop, restaurant, spa, interior design store and other shops and services there.
